Jess Oberlin (Halden) - 36 jaar - Gestel
Jess is geboren in Canada, maar woont en werkt sinds 10 jaar in Eindhoven. Als cultureel ondernemer, antidisciplinair ontwerper en ambassadeur van het nachtleven brengt ze mensen niet alleen bij elkaar, maar weet ze anderen ook te inspireren om samen te werken.
Dat doet ze onder meer met PLASMA, een platform dat zich inzet voor de positie van non-binairen, LGBTQIA+ en de BIPOC gemeenschap. Voor de creatieve manier waarop ze dit doet, ontving ze in 2019 de Eindhovense Cultuurprijs.
Jess is een betrokken burger met een groot open hart. Ze wil dat Eindhoven een stad is waar iedereen zich veilig en thuis kan voelen. Een stad vrij van racisme, seksisme, homofobie en transfobie. Bij Groen Links ziet ze goede mogelijkheden om actief aan zo’n toekomst bij te dragen.
“In Eindhoven zie ik een wereldstad in de maak. De groei en ontwikkeling vragen om een heldere visie en nieuwe aanpak. Gelukkig heb ik goede ideeën om de stad voor iedereen kansrijker, duurzamer en veiliger te maken.
Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat we dingen pas echt vooruit kunnen helpen wanneer we beter samenwerken. Diversiteit en inclusiviteit zijn daarbij voor mij de belangrijkste uitgangspunten.”

Jess was born in Canada, but has lived and worked in Eindhoven for 10 years. As a cultural entrepreneur, anti-disciplinary designer and ambassador of nightlife, she not only brings people together, but also knows how to inspire others to work together.
One of the ways she does this is with PLASMA, a platform that advocates for the position of non-binary people, the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community. She was awarded the Eindhoven Culture Prize in 2019 for the creative way she does this.
Jess is an engaged citizen with a big open heart. She would like Eindhoven to become a city where anyone can feel safe and at home. A city free of Racism, Sexism, Homophobia and Transphobia. With Groen Links, she sees great opportunities to be an active contributor to such a future.
"In Eindhoven I see a global city in the making. This growing and developing city requires a clear vision and fresh approach. Fortunately, I have good ideas for creating a city that is more promising, sustainable and safe for everyone.
I am certain that we can only really move things forward when we collaborate better. Diversity and inclusiveness are the core principles for me in this respect."
