Actie is nodig.

Council questions GroenLinks on discrimination at Stratumseind

The discriminatory door policy at Stratumseind is a significant problem according to GroenLinks. Action is needed. Which is why we asked a number of council questions.

Following the article "Expats are refused at Stratumseind" (Eindhovens Dagblad, 30 March 2019), it became clear (once again) that there is a problem regarding to discrimination against foreign residents of Eindhoven on Stratumseind. Not only by means of this article, but also through social and regular media and from information from the police, it became eminent that there is regular discrimination at the entrances of cafes at Stratumseind.

This news is very worrying. All the more so because it is a problem that has been going on for some time. Already ten years ago, it was known that people of foreign origin were discriminated in this same street. The problem now also appears to play a role among foreign expats and students.

According to GroenLinks, it cannot be the case that on the one hand Eindhoven claims it wants to be an inclusive city and focuses all its attention on the international allure of the Brainport, while on the other hand international people are literally denied access.

By all means, measures must be taken to prevent such discrimination at all times. In an interview with the NOS, Samir Toub, councilor for GroenLinks, states that he demands that the municipality act on this and take measures if necessary. That is why Samir asked some council questions about this topic that you can read here.
